The Integration Gap
A recent LinkedIn discussion from healthcare technologist Riken Shah crystallized what many of us have been experiencing: "Models change every quarter. Integrations last for years. The unsexy work is what actually gets AI into clinicians' hands."
He's right. Healthcare organizations now spend roughly 12% of their software budgets on AI initiatives. Yet the competitive advantage doesn't come from having the best model — it comes from reliably deploying any model at scale.

Shah also highlighted a workforce gap that compounds the technical challenges: there aren't enough engineers who understand both clinical workflows and production-grade system design.
Finding someone who can explain the difference between ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS is hard. Finding someone who can also design a fault-tolerant API that handles 100 requests per second with p99 latency under 200ms? That's the real unicorn.
